Original vintage World War Two travel advertising poster - In War and Peace We Serve - published by the Big Four railway companies of the time (1923-1947): Great Western Railway GWR, the London, Midland and Scottish Railway LMS, the London and North Eastern Railway LNER and Southern Railway SR. Great illustration by Reginald Mayes (1901-1992) featuring four locomotive trains underneath flags from five countries including the Union Jack, Republic of China, United States of America, Soviet Union and France. Printed by Truscott and Sons. Horizontal. Very good condition, restored fold marks, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
