Original vintage poster - The New Yorker - featuring the iconic View of the World from 9th Avenue magazine cover by the notable American artist Saul Steinberg (Saul Erik Steinberg; 1914-1999) featuring a fun architectural map illustration of Manhattan in New York with cars on the street and people walking by the city buildings on 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue leading to the Hudson River and various states and US cities marked with rocks in the centre - Jersey Washington DC Texas Los Angeles Las Vegas Nebraska Kansas City Chicago - flanked by Canada and Mexico on the sides with the Pacific Ocean and hills marked China Japan Russia in the distance, the magazine title above. This bird's eye view is Steinberg's most notable work using cartographic humour to suggest the self-importance of New Yorkers as being the centre of the world (issued by The New Yorker as their 29 March 1976 magazine cover); in 2005 it was voted one of greatest magazine cover designs in the last 40 years. Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
