Original vintage advertising poster for The Metropolitan Museum of Art American Wing featuring a great illustration by Thomas Maitland Cleland (1880-1964) of a sunny day outside the grand frontage of the American Wing with people in period clothing, the ladies wearing dresses and carrying parasol umbrellas and the gentlemen wearing suits with top hats and holding walking canes, on the cobble street including an artist sketching by a tree with a girl standing in the shade and a dog sitting behind him, a couple riding in a carriage, children playing, a cat stretching on an awning, people chatting and leaning out of the windows of surrounding buildings. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) opened in 1870; The American Wing opened in 1924 to house their collection of American art. Printed by Peter J Carey & Sons Lith NY. Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
