W. Murnau (Friedrich Wilhelm Plumpe; 1888-1931) with the renowned scriptwriter Carl Mayer (1894-1944), using only one title card and ingenious mobile filming techniques through city streets and corridors with cameras mounted on bicycles and using overhead wires invented by the notable cinematographer Karl Freund (1890-1969), who also strapped a camera to his waist as he stumbled on roller skates to depict a drunk scene; the overall effect of movement, light and shadows earned Murnau the nickname "Great Impressionist". FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
