Original antique travel poster - GNR Skegness is so Bracing - issued by the Great Northern Railway for the seaside town located on the North Sea in Lincolnshire featuring the fun and iconic mascot of Skegness, The Jolly Fisherman, created in 1908 by the notable English illustrator John Hassall (1868-1948), wearing a hat and a red scarf and smoking a pipe, skipping along a sandy beach in boots with his arms held out, his reflection in a pool of water by a starfish and an address for a Free Booklet and Information, the title text in bold lettering on the green border with smaller versions of the character in each corner. Instantly recognisable, The Jolly Fisherman is one of the most famous holiday advertisements of all time and has been reused for several different posters over the years. What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
