Original vintage World War Two military recruitment poster - It's A Women's War Too! Join the WAVES Your Country Needs You Now - featuring striking artwork by the notable American illustrator John Falter (John Philip Falter; 1910-1982) depicting a young lady in a smart Navy uniform working as a radio operator wearing a headset and operating a brass telegraph key to send Morse code messages, the bold text above and on the side of the image with the details below - Apply to your nearest Recruiting Station or Office of Naval Officer Procurement. The United States Naval Reserve (Women's Reserve) or WAVES / Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service was created in 1942. The prolific artist John Falter USNR is best known for his magazine cover designs for The Saturday Evening Post and for his commissions whilst enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve during WWII. Good condition, restored tears, small restored paper losses, creasing, staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
