Hero Land Military Pageant Tank WWI
Original antique World War One fundraising poster for the Hero Land military pageant held at the Grand Central Palace in New York City from 24 November to 12 December 1917 - The greatest spectacle the world has ever seen for the greatest need the world has ever known - featuring a dramatic battle scene depicting the Mark IV British tank Britannia in action with explosions and soldiers firing guns below a blue sky, a soldier reaching out to the viewer for help above the text below. The heavy Mark IV tank first saw action in 1917, winning the first tank vs tank battle against the German A7V tank Nixe in 1918. The Britannia toured the USA and Canada in Liberty Loan and Victory Loan parades to boost support for the war effort in 1917 and 1918, one of the largest charity events of the era raising millions of dollars for over 100 Allied relief organisations; the tank was renamed Liberty and became part of the Ordnance Museum in America. Printed by Heywood Strasser and Voigt Litho Co NY. Horizontal. Good condition, restored folds, restored tears, minor staining, backed on linen.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
