Original vintage travel poster issued by London Midland and Scottish Railway / LMS for The Peak District - Peveril Castle - Artwork by the renowned British artist Leonard Campbell Taylor (1874-1969) features a scenic view of the historic village of Castleton nestled in the valley foreground, with smoke rising from the cottage chimneys against the dramatic limestone gorge behind. Perched high upon the imposing cliffs stands the historic silhouette of the medieval ruin, Peveril Castle. The border includes stylised lettering and a detailed circular emblem for the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company in the bottom right corner. Issued by Bemrose and Sons Ltd. Horizontal. Large size. Good condition, restored paper loss on edges, restored tears, staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
