Whipsnade Zoo Arnrid Johnston
Original vintage British travel poster advertising Whipsnade Zoo, designed by the notable illustrator and sculptor Arnrid Johnston (1895-1972), featuring a stylised Art Deco composition depicting a variety of animals on a rolling landscape under a cloudy blue sky, zebras grazing on lush green grass alongside resting spotted deer, whilst a black bear is perched in a nearby tree above more brown and black bears, a pack of wolves emerges from a dense pine forest, and a winding path cuts through the centre towards distant hills. Located north of London on the Dunstable Downs in Bedfordshire, Whipsnade Zoo (ZSL Whipsnade Zoo and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park) opened in 1931; it is now the biggest zoo in the UK and one of the largest wildlife conservation parks in Europe, home to over 10,000 animals in an area of 600 acres. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. Good condition, creasing, tears, staining, foxing.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
