See Scotland Burns Country Brig o' Doon Bridge Ayrshire

£1,550.00

Original vintage travel poster - See the Burns Country by Western S.M.T. Coach Tours - featuring a scenic landscape painting by the renowned Scottish artist James McIntosh Patrick (1907-1998) depicting people on the historic stone arch of the 15th century  looking at the flowing water of the River Doon surrounded by trees and walking paths, the bold title text on the margin below. The Western Scottish Motor Traction Co. Limited (Western SMT; 1929-1985) operated motor coach tours through south west Scotland. The Burns Country region is a popular destination for literary tourists; the Brig o' Doon bridge was featured in the 1790 poem Tam o' Shanter by Scotland's national poet Robert Burns (1759-1796) and inspired the 1947 Broadway musical Brigadoon. Published by the British Transport Commission in Scotland. Very good condition, staining, small repaired tears, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
