Font Romeu Sante de l'Enfant France
Original vintage travel poster for Font-Romeu - Santé de L’Enfant / Health of the Child - commissioned by the Chemins de Fer du Midi / Midi Railway Company. Font-Romeu is locted near the Spanish border in the south of France. It comprises the villages of Odeillo and Via, as well as Font-Romeu, one of the oldest ski resorts in France and the oldest in the Pyrenees. Art Deco artwork by the renowned French painter and illustrator Pierre Commarmond (1897-1983) depicts a cheerful young girl in an orange swimsuit sitting atop a beach ball and snowball that divides the scenery. The left side showcases a crisp winter landscape (Hiver) with skiers on snow-covered slopes, while the right side depicts a sunny summer setting (Été) with figures doing a group exercise on a lush green lawn. Printed by Lucien Serre and Co. Good condition, restored tears, restored creasing, staining, ink stamp, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
