Original vintage travel poster advertising Air France - Winter Sports / Sports D’Hiver - artwork by the notable French graphic illustrator Alexis Kow (1901-1978) depicting a four-man bobsleigh team in red uniforms speeding down a snowy slope with a giant pair of upright wooden skis in the background and a triple-tailed Lockheed Constellation airliner flying above. Snow-covered pine trees and the sweeping peaks of the French Alps can be seen in the distance. Air France was founded in 1933; this iconic piece was commissioned as part of a post-war marketing campaign to promote luxury commercial flight to the winter resorts of the Alps. Printed in France by Edita, Paris.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
