London Map Clash Of Arms MacDonald Gill
Original vintage pictorial map poster featuring a Map of London, designed by the prominent graphic artist Leslie MacDonald Gill (1884-1947) for London Underground. A wide border frames the cartography, decorated with heraldic emblems of London boroughs and poetic prose running along each edge - Though clash of arms gives way to peace and warring martians bow to Jove and League of Nations calls the halt, our London constant was as is. Constant through all her many trials of rise and fall within her gates of mercenaries and merchantmen or civic functionaries displaced she stands. Stands still unmoved and ever dear to tens of thousands round the world, the centre of a vast domain O Domine Dirige Nos. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. Horizontal. Large size. FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.

Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
