Original vintage travel advertising poster for Weston Super-Mare issued jointly by the Great Western Railway GWR and the London, Midland and Scottish Railway LMS - Design by the notable British landscape painter and poster artist Claude Henry Buckle (1905–1973) features a young couple in summer attire strolling along the sunlit Royal Parade promenade beside a classic stone pillar from the town's famous 1920s Winter Gardens Pavilion. A sandy beach and the hillside seaside town appear in the background. The bold lettering reads - Weston Super Mare in Smiling Somerset. Printed in Great Britain at the Baynard Press. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses, staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
