Original vintage heraldic map poster featuring a colourful design by Charles Shepherd (Shep; 1892-1968) for Southern Railway depicting the South of England and northern France framed by the various regional historic coats of arms including the county shields of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Sussex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Middlesex and Kent, London and other towns and cities on the south coast with the Southern Railway text on a flowing banner, a radiating sun, two Tudor roses and heraldic lions of England above, and the coats of arms for Jersey, Guernsey, St. Malo, Havre, Dieppe, Boulogne, Calais, Dunkirk, Ostend and Rotterdam with the islands on the English Channel / La Manche and the Republic of France / Republique Française RF emblem on a decorative compass point below. Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
