Original vintage travel poster issued by Flugfelag Islands HF Iceland Airways featuring a colourful mid-century design by the Danish artist Kai Rich (1910-1981) depicting a propeller plane flying over a picturesque countryside scene with Icelandic horses and farmers working on a field near the coast, a few village houses and a red-roofed church in the valley near a waterfall at the foot of dramatic, snow capped mountains below the blue sky, the sea leading around the coast to more hills in the distance, the title text in red with the white and blue Pegasus logo of the airline above and in English in blue below. Founded as Flugfelag Akureyrar in 1937, the company was renamed Flugfelag Islands in 1940; following its merger in 1979 the country's flag carrier was renamed Icelandair. Printed by Raaby-Henning Kristensen, Copenhagen. Good condition, creasing, repaired tears, pinholes, minor staining.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
