Original vintage poster issued by the French national airline carrier Air France featuring an illustrated map of the world by Lucien Boucher (1889-1971) with red route lines showing the airline's services to various international destinations and colourful images depicting famous and historical landmarks, mountains, people, animals including horses and kangaroos, trees and flowers, mythical creatures, rowing boats and sailing ships at sea and Air France planes with decorative compass points on the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean and highlighted scenes from each continent, the Air France title banner surrounded by illustrations of ladies on sea horse creatures, fish and birds, the stylised text reading - Nova et Vetera Sur la vieille terre des chemin nouveaux / New and Old on the old path new earth - and the Air France seahorse (pegasus / hippocampe aile) logo in the background. Lucien Boucher produced maps and planisphere designs for Air France from 1933; his artwork for the airline company is considered an embodiment of the golden age of air travel. Horizontal. Printed in France. Good condition, repaired tears, trimmed edge, staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
