Original vintage pictorial map poster - A map of Essex Suffolk Hertfordshire Produced by British Railways - featuring colourful illustrations of notable buildings, old post mills, castles, manor houses, Norman keeps, churches, abbeys and cathedrals marked with interesting notes including Hadstock the oldest door in England, Saffron Waldon the Old Sun Inn headquarters of Olive Cromwell 1647, Colchester was the first Roman city in England, as well as towns, cities and counties including Ipswich, Lowestoft, Bungay, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket known for horse races, Colchester, Stevenage and St Albans, portraits of notable people including the artists Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable, the poet John Milton and translator Edward Fitzgerald, with images of bridges and rivers, birds flying overhead, horse racing, barrels, medals and coats of arms, a steam ship on the River Thames by Tilbury, a fishing and motor boat, the cruise ship SS Amsterdam, a sailing barge and racing yachts, people on holiday diving into the sea with the railway route map in black on the map and a compass rose in the bottom right near the seaside towns of Felixstowe, Clacton-on-Sea and Southend-on-Sea. What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
