Original vintage travel advertising poster - Philippine Air Lines Route of the Orient Star - featuring a pictorial map of the world marking the airline route connecting Manila in the Philippines marked with a golden star in the centre to the North America cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Washington DC, and to Hawaii Honolulu, Wake Island, Guam, Okinawa and Tokyo in Japan, Hong Kong and Taipei in Asia, Calcutta in India, Karachi, Tel Aviv and to the cities of Rome, Madrid, Zurich, Paris, Frankfurt and London in Europe with illustrations of local and historical places of interest including the Taj Mahal, a castle, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Roman Colosseum, a Mayan stone mask in South America and ancient Egypt hieroglyphics stone, various animals including a camel, a kangaroo and an emu in Australia, reindeer and cattle, a totem pole, igloo and tractor, and people from different countries including a Viking, with fish and traditional sailing boats and ships in the water and a compass on the ocean with a cherub blowing wind from a cloud above and the title box with the PAL logo below, all set within a decorative gold, green, brown, black and white lined border. What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
