Original vintage post-World War Two map poster for Yorkshire West Riding featuring a colourful design by Ernest Costain Clegg (1876-1954) of the administrative county (1889-1974) in West Yorkshire England depicting illustrations of notable landmarks and tourist locations including Temple Newsam, the City of York and Fountains Abbey with insignias and coats of arms as well as notable historical figures from the region including Martin Frobisher (1539-1594), General Fairfax (1612-1671) and the Bronte sisters (Charlotte 1816-1855; Emily 1818-1848; Anne; 1820-1849), information on British Farms with agriculture and food including cattle, milk, sheep, cotton, silk, cereals, sugar beets, flax, pigs and potatoes, a quote by Winston Churchill dated 27 April 1941 - This indeed is the grand heroic period in our history and the light of glory shines on all - and information on the Women's Institute with roads, castles, trees, rivers marked and a Scale of Miles at the bottom. Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
