Northern Ireland Map WWII Ernest Clegg
Original vintage post-World War Two map poster of Northern Ireland featuring a colourful design by Ernest Costain Clegg (1876-1954) of the counties of Fermanagh, Tyrone, Londonderry, Antrim, Down and Armagh with illustrations of the Parliament Buildings Stormont and Caledon House the Ancestral Home of Field Marshal Viscount Alexander with a list of famous people born in Northern Ireland including composers, authors and scientists as well as diplomatic, clerical and political people, notes on the American arrival in the City of Belfast in 1942 and greatest gathering of American ships in a British port in 1942, the Lough Erne RAF base and first American-Canadian naval base in the City of Londonderry at the Derry Naval Base, the Presidents of the United States of America of Ulster Lineage and information on British farms, agriculture and food including flax, ryegrass seed, potatoes, dairy, poultry, orchards, tomatoes, oats, cattle and horses, and a quote by Winston Churchill dated 6 May 1943 - Only one great channel of entry remained open because loyal Ulster gave us the full use of the Northern Irish ports and waters, and thus ensured the free working of the Clyde and the Mersey. But for the loyalty of Northern Ireland and its devotion to what has now become the cause of thirty Governments or nations, we should have been confronted with slavery and death, and the light which now shines so strongly throughout the world would have been quenched. The bonds of affection between Great Britain and the people of Northern Ireland have been tempered by fire and are now, I firmly believe, unbreakable - with insignias and coats of arms and images of battleships at sea and planes flying over the coast, roads, castles, trees, rivers and a Scale of Miles at the bottom. Printed by John Waddington Ltd. The Countryman Maps of Britain. One of a series produced for the Women's Land Army Benevolent Fund. Dedicated by kind permission to Captain The Rt. Hon. Sir Basil Brooke Bt, C.B.E., M.C., Prime Minister of Northern Ireland. Horizontal. Excellent condition.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
