Original vintage Asia travel poster for Singapur / Singapore issued by Interflug Deutsche Demokratische Republik / German Democratic Republic Airlines featuring the Singapura Merlion statue water fountain on a brick wall with trees and the city skyline in the background, the image reflected on the calm water of the Singapore River below and the bold stylised title in red and yellow letters above, the airline logo and text in red on the margin below. The Merlion is the mascot of Singapore designed in 1964 as the tourist symbol; this statue of the mythical creature with the head of a lion and body of a fish was constructed in 1971-1972 by the sculptor Lim Nang Seng (1917-1987), originally located at the mouth of the river; it was moved to the promenade overlooking the new Marina Bay in 2002. Interflug was the national airline of East Germany from 1963 to 1991. Very good condition, minor staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
