Head Ski Squaw Valley Olympics

£550.00

Original vintage advertising poster for Head skis, featuring a design by Wolfgang Lert depicting a gloved hand filling out an Olympic Winter Games chart sheet next to Head skis reflecting pine trees on their surface, with skiers going down the slope.  The 1960 Winter Olympics, held in Squaw Valley (now known as Palisades Tahoe), California, from February 18 to 28, 1960, marked the first time the Winter Games were hosted in the United States outside of Lake Placid.  Head was founded in 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland, by aeronautical engineer Howard Head (1914-1991), who is credited with the invention of the first commercially successful aluminium laminate skis and the oversized tennis racket. Poor condition, restored tears, restored creasing, tape staining on margins, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
