Original vintage sports poster for the XIth World University Winter Games held in Zakopane Poland from 7-13 March 1956 featuring three colourful flags billowing from a single mast in front of a pale blue sky and mountains, each flag depicting a winter sport event as a stylised silhouette in action showing a downhill skier in bright orange, an ice hockey player in white, and a figure skater in white, the snowflake logo of the games with the vertical text on the right side, and the bold event title below. Published by the International Union of Students, Prague, Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Good condition, restored tears, minor staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
