Original vintage skiing and winter sports poster - Grenoble 1968 Xe jeux olympiques d'hiver France Les 2 Alpes Isere / 10th Winter Olympic Games - featuring a photograph by Karl Machatschek (1906-1994) depicting a smiling skier with a badge on his red jumper standing with one ski up towards the viewer, more skiers skiing down the piste with a yellow cable car ski lift and mountains below the sunny blue sky in the background, the text above with the Olympic rings logo and below. Les 2 Alpes is one of the oldest ski resorts in France. The skier is likely an ESF Ecole du Ski Francais instructor in the iconic red uniform with the red, white and blue stripes of the French flag at the top of the sleeve. Printed in France by Draeger. Published by and for the French Government. Good condition, restored tears, restored pinholes, restored creasing, staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
