Vote Patriotic Front ZAPU Unity Peace

£450.00

Original vintage political propaganda poster - Vote Patriotic Front (ZAPU) Unity & Peace - issued ahead of the historic Southern Rhodesian general election in February 1980 that led to the creation of the Republic of Zimbabwe supporting Joshua Nkomo's Zimbabwe African People's Union / Patriotic Front (ZAPU), featuring artwork depicting two liberation soldiers from the Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA; 1964-1980), a man wearing a hat and a lady carrying a child on her back, both armed with rifle guns, looking at a symbolic depiction of the Great Zimbabwe conical tower between trees, on a red, yellow and green gradient background of the national flag colours with a star inside the O of Vote above, the rest of the text diagonally on the side and below. The Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU; 1961-1987) was founded by the socialist revolutionary politician Joshua Nkomo (1917-1999); ZAPU merged with ZANU in 1987. ZAPU's military arm ZIPRA (1964-1980) was formed by the nationalist leader Jason Moyo (1927-1977). Good condition, creasing, small tears.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
