Original antique movie poster for Where Lights Are Low / Kineskvarterets mysterier (The Mysteries of Chinatown), a 1921 drama directed by Colin Campbell, and starring Sessue Hayakawa, Togo Yamamoto, and Goro Kino. The poster designed by Swedish illustrator and advertising artist Eric Rohman (1891-1949) utilises a palette of black, yellow, and teal to depict a dramatic, noir-like alleyway scene featuring stylised figures, lanterns, and bold text. Kintaro Hayakawa (1886-1973), known professionally as Sessue Hayakawa, was a Japanese actor and matinee idol in Hollywood during the silent film era. Printed by Svensk Konstindustri, Stockholm. Good condition, folds, creasing, tears, minor staining.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
