Original vintage Swedish movie poster for the release of the German black and white silent drama film Hamnens Lockfagel / The Water Rat (Docks Of Hamburg / Die Carmen von St. Pauli) directed by Erich Waschneck and starring Jenny Jugo as Jenny Hummel, Willy Fritsch as Klaus Brandt, and Fritz Rasp as the doctor fearturing colourful artwork by Gunnar Hakansson (1891-1968) depicting a sailor with his arms around a smiling lady in a blue skirt standing on her tip toes with the silhouette of a boat and dock in the background, two men looking at them in front of the ship with the white steam rising into the pink sky and the text on the margin below. Produced by Universum Film UFA, the film is about a thief who turns out to be an attractive young lady, caught by a merchant ship's mate in port. What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
