Published in 1892, the Reine de Joie (Moeurs du Demi-Monde) / (Morals of the Demimonde) was a controversial and scandalous erotic novel by the writer and journalist Victor Joze (Joze Dobrski de Jastzebiec; 1861-1933) about the affairs of Alice Lamy, a Parisian courtesan who becomes the mistress of the wealthy Jewish banker Baron de Rosenfeld (loosely based on the Baron de Rothschild), offering her company in exchange for money and a townhouse.
