Reine De Joie Queen Of Joy Henri Toulouse Lautrec
Original antique Belle Epoque advertising poster - Reine de Joie par Victor Joze chez tous les libraires / Queen of Joy by Victor Joze available at all booksellers - designed by the notable French post impressionist artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901), featuring a dinner party scene depicting a lady in a bright red dress kissing an older gentleman on his nose, another smartly dressed gentleman with a moustache sitting on the other side of her, the bold stylised title lettering in front of the table laid with plates and a jug below. Published in 1892, the Reine de Joie (Moeurs du Demi-Monde) / (Morals of the Demimonde) was a controversial and scandalous erotic novel by the writer and journalist Victor Joze (Joze Dobrski de Jastzebiec; 1861-1933) about the affairs of Alice Lamy, a Parisian courtesan who becomes the mistress of the wealthy Jewish banker Baron de Rosenfeld (loosely based on the Baron de Rothschild), offering her company in exchange for money and a townhouse. Printed by Imprimerie Edw. Ancourt & Cie, Paris. Large size. Good condition, restored folds, restored tears, restored paper losses, minor staining, ink stamp, backed on linen.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.

Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
