Cargo Ship In Sete Gabriel Couderc

£350.00

Original vintage art poster Cargo Ship in Sète featuring a bold, expressive mid-century design by the French modernist artist Gabriel Couderc (1905-1994) depicting a port scene in the Mediterranean town of Sète, Languedoc, portraying a dock worker or fisherman sitting quietly on a bollard near a traditional blue and white fishing vessel moored at the quayside, behind them a massive cargo ship and the industrial structures of the working harbour with a loading crane silhouetted against a moody evening sky. This artwork was part of the School Prints project, which made high-quality prints of modern art and sent them directly to British schools. The goal was to bring fresh, modern art straight to children to brighten their lives after the hard times of World War II. Printed by The Baynard Press for School Prints Ltd., London. Horizontal. Excellent condition.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
