Empress of Britain Canadian Pacific 1931
Original vintage travel poster issued by Canadian Pacific to promote the construction and launch of the ocean liner Empress of Britain, featuring a striking depiction of the ship hull looming large within a shipyard surrounded by construction cranes and scaffolding, smoke billows from a steam locomotive on the tracks below, bold text across the image reads - in 1931 a five day atlantic giantess 40,000 tons for the Canadian Pacific. Built between 1928 and 1931, the RMS Empress of Britain was Canadian Pacific’s largest, fastest, and most luxurious trans-Atlantic liner operating between Canada and Europe. However, her service ended during World War Two when she was bombed by a German aircraft and subsequently torpedoed by U-32 in October 1940, making her the largest ship ever sunk by a U-boat. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses, staining, tape marks, backed on linen.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
