Wool In National Dress Syria
Original vintage poster from the Wool in National Dress series featuring a colourful image by Drake Brookshaw (1907-1993) depicting a man riding a camel, with an image of the world showing where Syria is marked with a red arrow on a globe next to the title in red and information below: Syria borders the Eastern Mediterranean, south of Turkey. The coastal strip is known as the Lebanon. Here, between mountains and sea, lies fertile country. But to East, Syria itself is mostly desert cut by the valley of the river Euphrates. To and from Damascus, one of the oldest cities in the world, rich caravans cross the desert, prey to the wild Bedouin. The Syrian Camel Corps are really desert 'mounties' formed to prevent crime. These tough desert policemen live hard and travel light. Their square-cut cloaks of wool keep out the hot sun and stinging sand-storms. They serve as awnings to rest under in the heat of the day, and rolled up in them they stay snug at night when the desert air turns very cold. Issued by the International Wool Secretariat. Fair condition, creasing, tears, staining, pinholes, paper losses.

FAQs

Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
