Wool In National Dress Ecuador

£275.00

Original vintage poster from the Wool in National Dress series featuring a colourful image by Drake Brookshaw (1907-1993) depicting people in traditional clothing and wide brimmed hats in a food market, a lady holding a piece of fruit and a person carrying a sack of produce in the foreground, an image of the world showing where Ecuador is marked with a red arrow on a globe next to the title in red and information below: Ecuador lies across the equator on the Pacific coast of South America. The Andes, dividing the coastal strip from the interior, are volcanic and include Cotopaxi, highest active volcano in the world (19,6123 ft.). In a temperature around 80F., the Indians stay cool in wool. The gaily coloured Poncho is a blanket worn cape-fashion with a hole for the head. Going to market, mother wears a sling in which she carries commodities for sale, her subsequent purchases - and baby too! Rice and bananas replace our bread and potatoes on her shopping list. There are plenty of small, but delicious oranges. Wool, too, is sold in its natural state, and the women sit spinning while waiting for customers. Ecuador is famous for its "Panama" hats. Largest export: Cacao beans which are made cocoa powder and chocolate. Issued by the International Wool Secretariat. Fair condition, creasing, tears, staining.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
