Wool In National Dress Ireland
Original vintage poster from the Wool in National Dress series featuring a colourful image by Drake Brookshaw (1907-1993) depicting a lady wearing a blue hooded cloak, carrying a basket next to piglets feeding with a lady and a donkey in the background, an image of the world showing where Ireland is marked with a red arrow on a globe next to the title in red and information below: Ireland, the second largest island of the British group, comprises Eire and Northern Ireland. On all sides near the coast are mountains and hills which fall away to a central plain. Fertile, except for areas of bog and marsh, the land is more suited to pasture than crops. Though sheep and pigs are reared, horses are the Irishman's first love. Irish hunters and racehorses are sent all over the world. Peasants in the remote districts of the west coast live simple lives. From homespun wool the women make shawls and the famous blue Kerry cloaks. The latter garment serves as both hat and cloak. Thickly woven, it is often handed down from mother to daughter and testifies to the part played by wool in circumstances where comfort and hard wear are most appreciated. Issued by the International Wool Secretariat. Fair condition, creasing, tears, staining, pinholes, paper losses.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
