Wool In National Dress Yugoslavia
Original vintage poster from the Wool in National Dress series featuring a colourful image by Drake Brookshaw (1907-1993) depicting a man in traditional clothing eating an apple and two ladies picking apples from a fruit basket on a table of vegetables and food next to him, an image of the world showing where Yugoslavia is marked with a red arrow on a globe next to the title in red and information below: Yugoslavia faces Italy across the Adriatic Sea. Mountains run close to its 400 miles of beautiful coastline. Inland, a mild climate and rich soil combine to produce excellent crops of maize, wheat and barley. Tobacco can be cultivated - fruit and vegetables abound. There is grazing for sheep, and pigs are plentiful. So the fortunate peasants of Yugoslavia are, in normal times, an easy going and contented race. Their costume reflects a life of simple luxury. The graceful, long white dresses of women are sensibly protected with coloured aprons. Gaily printed handkerchiefs adorn their heads, and few venture fat without shawls made of thick, soft, lamb's wool. The men like woollen waistcoats, sometimes wearing two or three - the outer one, a kind of bolero, is often attractively patterned. Issued by the International Wool Secretariat. Fair condition, creasing, tears, staining, fold.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
