Rare original vintage World War Two period advertising poster - Ah! Bisto For War Workers Meals - featuring a smiling man wearing a brown jacket with a red tie and flat cap, rubbing his hands together in anticipation of food made with Bisto, with the text on the left in stylised black and dark blue letters on a yellow background. Bisto ('Browns, Seasons and Thickens in One'; since 1908) is an English food brand most well-known for its gravy granules. Due to paper shortages during the war, this banner size poster was printed on the reverse side of another poster. Large size. Horizontal. Good condition, restored folds, restored tears, staining, lettering on reverse is visible, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
