Original vintage map poster - Dog Map of the World - designed by Joseph Patterson Sims (1890-1953) featuring a colourful pictorial map with decorative illustrations including a compass and a variety of dogs as well as an information panel and short notes and historical facts, framed by images of the different dog breeds with their maximum height and weight, country of origin, classification group and date when they were founded and numbered as references on the map. Published by J. L. Smith Company of Philadelphia. The reverse side features the jacket cover - The Fireside Book of Dog Stories - with a dalmatian puppy on a red background (The Ugly Puppy drawing by Cecil Aldin), A Message to America's Dog Owners, and the front and back flaps. Horizontal. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, folds, staining, some backing paper on folds on reverse, double sided.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
