Original vintage drink advertising poster for Nicolas fines bouteilles / fine wine featuring a colourful and fun image by Jules Isnard Dransy (1883-1945) to promote Nicolas' home delivery service depicting his iconic Nectar delivery man with a moustache and wearing an apron and hat marked N, his big eyes looking out to the viewer as he carries numerous white wine and red wine bottles in each hand. Maison Nicolas was the first wine retailer in France, founded in 1822 by Louis Nicolas; to celebrate their centenary, the Nectar delivery man character named Monsieur Nicolas (aka Nectar Livreur) was created for the company in 1922 by Dransy. Large size. Framed. Good condition, light folds, minor restoration on folds, seems to be backed on linen. Not examined out of frame; poster will be sent unframed for online orders.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
