Original vintage rail transport advertising poster - Ashtabula Harbor Lake Erie where trainloads of Appalachian coal are exchanged for cargoes of Northern iron ore New York Central Lines - featuring an industrial design by Herbert Morton Stoope (1887-1948) depicting a busy port scene with cranes loading goods onto ships with tug boats on the water and steam rising into the sky, the text on the border below. Printed by Latham Litho & Ptc Co. Long Island City. Good condition, large restored tears through image, restored paper losses, restored creasing, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
