Original vintage Soviet space race era propaganda poster - Union of Soviet Socialist Republics USSR September 1959 In the Name of Peace and Progress! / Союз Советских Социалистических Республик СССР Сениябрь 1959 Во Имя Мира И Прогресса! The Soviet Union sent the first probe to the Moon's surface on 14th September 1959. Colourful design on a blue background featuring a shining red Soviet star on the Moscow Kremlin clock tower with a plane flying at speed above a ship marked Lenin on the curve of the globe earth below the text and logo on a large flag on the moon above. The Soviet Union launched Luna 1 (aka Mechta / Dream) on 2 January 1959, the first lunar spacecraft and human-made object to leave the earth's orbit and fly by the moon. Large size. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
