Original antique railway poster for Mont Blanc excursions by Chemins de Fer P.L.M. featuring scenic images of a green valley with tall trees and a river leading towards snow topped mountains on the horizon with stylised text across the centre and a route map on one side below with smaller images of Chamonix and St Gervais les Bains featuring the town, mountains and river. The text below includes information on tickets and reduced prices between London Paris Lyons Geneva Evian-les-Bains Thonon-les-Bains Aix-les-Bains Cluses Annecy Chambery Albertville and Chamonix. Artwork by the French painter and graphic designer, Hugo D'Alesi (Frederic Alexianu / Friedrich Hugo Alessi; 1849-1906). The French railway company PLM (Compagnie des Chemins de Fer de Paris a Lyon et a la Mediterranee; 1858-1938) operated train services primarily in the South East region of France between Paris, the French Alps and the Cote d'Azur and rail services in Algeria. Fair condition, restored folds and tears, unrestored loss on margins, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
