LT London Transport - Puppets
Original vintage advertising poster for London Transport designed by the costume and set designer, Osborne Robinson (1904-1976), who created works for the likes of Laurence Olivier, Michael Redgrave and Alec Guinness. Robinson maintained a personal collection of over 3,500 posters from around the turn of the century. Among them is one of his own works, which features string puppets of a clown, harlequin and female masked dancer with a sign: London Transport offers this poster as a diversion and a greeting. These three figures, cut out and made up, will provide puppets or hanging decorations. Cost 10/- each from the Poster Shop, 280 Marylebone Road, NW1 (near Edgware Road circle line station on the London Underground), including a leaflet giving simple instructions. Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
