Original vintage travel advertising poster published by London Transport - Enjoy Your London No. 3 The Art Galleries - one of a series issued after World War Two to promote the beauty and enjoyment of London. Colourful two sheet poster, the first sheet featuring an illustration by Robert Scanlan (b 1908) depicting a stylised image of a couple looking at paintings inside a grand gallery with columns in the foreground, the second sheet featuring the same image above and below the title and list of art galleries and museums, including the British Museum Print Room, the National Gallery, The National Gallery of British Sports and Pastimes, the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Academy, the Tate Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum, both sheets featuring the London Underground roundel logo below. Printed by The Baynard Press. Sheet 1 (poster with image) in good condition, small tears and creases on margins. Sheet 2 (poster with text) in good condition, creases, minor tears on top margin, small paper loss in top right corner.

Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
