Original vintage sport poster published to celebrate the sporting achievement of the Belgian cyclist Leon Vanderstuyft (1890-1964), who cycled a world record 125 kilometres and 815 metres in an hour behind motorcycle. Great design featuring the record breaking cyclist zooming along on his bike behind a motorcycle with 125kil. 815m dans l'heure marked behind him and a steam train locomotive above, a yellow arrow emphasising his speed with text and a small image of Leon Vanderstuyft in his cycling helmet below, including details on his 1922 Semi-Sprint world title, 1928 Australian Champion title, his victories in international events and his previous world records in 1924 and 1925 (Leon Vanderstuyft won a bronze medal at the UCI Motor-paced World Championships in 1908 in the amateur division; after turning professional he won a silver medal in 1910 and gold medal in 1922). Large size. Printed in France by Imp. Daude Freres, Paris. Good condition, folds and creases.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
