Original vintage travel advertising poster for Imperial Airways and associated companies - Europe - Africa - India - China - Australia. Stunning image from the glamorous early days of air travel, featuring a plane named Scylla, Imperial Airways London, with flags flying above the cockpit and smartly dressed passengers disembarking, walking across the runway under the plane's wings. Artwork by the French artist, Albert Brenet (1903-2005). 4M/3/36 Printed in Great Britain by the Haycock Press Limited London and published in England by Imperial Airways IA/P/92. Imperial Airways (1924-1939) was an early British airline company that merged into BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation; now British Airways). Scylla (1934-1940) was a 39-seat biplane used by Imperial Airways for their London to Europe flights. Very good condition, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
