Original antique World War One satirical map of Europe and Asia portraying the outbreak of WWI featuring colourful caricatures and illustrations of the countries including Germany as a bulldog in a spiked helmet crushing Belgium with its paw, Great Britain and France as soldiers firing cannons at them, Spain and Portugal facing the other way below and Switzerland as a man sitting forward holding his ears against the war, Russia holding the hind leg of the dog trying to cut it off, Austria and Serbia shooting each other, Romania holding a cross, Greece and China watching with their heads on their hands, Japan as a soldier holding flags with ships at sea and fighting a bulldog marked Kiaochow on the side, and an inset image of Uncle Sam as America looking at it all through binoculars and a spyglass, the text in Japanese, Chinese and English. Horizontal. Good condition, several restored paper losses, restored tears, staining, creasing, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
