HAPAG West India Florida New York Cruise Ship
Original vintage travel advertising poster in German: To the West Indies, Florida and New York with the world steamship Reliance – From 6 December 1936 to 15 January 1937 – Hamburg-America Line. Fantastic design by Albert Fuss (1889-1969) showing the steam ship sailing across a deep blue sea with indigenous people sailing on small rowing boats in the foreground and colourful volcanic islands with palm trees in the distance, the text above and below in blue, red and white letters with the Hamburg-America logo. The SS Reliance was launched in 1914 and served HAPAG's routes from 1926 until 1938 when she was gutted by a fire in Hamburg; she was scrapped in 1941. Designed and printed in Frankfurt, Germany. Excellent condition, faint creases in top and bottom margins.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
