GPO Clear And Correct Addressing Windsor
Original vintage GPO General Post Office poster - Clear and correct addressing speeds your mail - featuring a great black and white illustration by the artist and wood engraver John Farleigh (Frederick William Charles Farleigh; 1900-1965) depicting Windsor Castle visible on the horizon through the trees from a scene in the Shakespeare comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor in which Sir John Falstaff is 'pinched' for his villainy by the Mistress Quickly's fairies - "Postmen are as earthbound as Mistress Quickly's fairies. They sort letters by addresses rather than by inspiration; and to carry a letter to Windsor or anywhere else, it is useful to have the right address. For the record, the correct address of the scene of Sir John Falstaff's discomforture is: Windsor Great Park, Windsor, Berks" - the text below in black and red against the orange border. Printed by The Baynard Press. Very good condition, minor tears and faint creases on margins.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
