Original vintage travel poster advertising A Cruise through Fairyland featuring artwork by the Swedish artist Hjalmar Thoresson (1893-1943) depicting the pleasure cruise Astrea sailing through the Gota Canal surrounded by lush green trees and a rocky slope on the side, the text in red over the orange margin background. Opened in 1832, the 190km long Gota Canal was used for passenger and cargo transportation connecting cities across Sweden; it is now a tourist and boating attraction for both cruises and recreational sailing. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
