Bad Form In Dress War Savings WWI

Sold

Original antique World War One Home Front poster - Bad Form In Dress - featuring blue lettering on a white background set within a blue border - The National Organizing Committee for War Savings appeals against extravagance in women's dress. Many women have already recognized that elaboration and variety in dress are bad form in the present crisis, but there is still a large section of the community, both amongst the rich and amongst the less well-to-do, who appear to make little or no difference in their habits. New clothes should only be bought when absolutely necessary, and these should be durable and suitable for all occasions. Luxurious forms, for example, of hats, boots, shoes, stockings, gloves, and veils should be avoided. It is essential, not only that money should be saved, but that labour employed in the clothing trades should be set free. Published by the National Organizing Committee for War Savings London. Printed by Roberts and Leete Ltd London. Good condition, folds, creasing, tears, minor staining.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
